One of my first post-college jobs was transcribing and partially translating the Glossa Ordinaria, a Latin medieval biblical text and commentary.  The purpose of this project was to compare various versions of the Bible, find differences in transcription and determine the most authentic “original” text.

Medieval monks liked to use abbreviations to replace words or word endings, and a lot of my work was figuring out what those abbreviations meant.
